Sixteen teams from Class AA to Class C competed at the Missoula County Invitational on Saturday at Big Sky. The Corvallis girls brought home the team championship including an individual win by Sadi Henderson in the 200 and a team win in the 1,600 relay. The Corvallis boys finished third behind Flathead and Big Sky and garnered a win in the discus by Brandon Butt.
Henderson ran the 200 in 26.28 to take first at the Missoula County Invite. She also ran the anchor leg of the 1,600 meter relay for Corvallis. Lakyn Connors, Ayden Eickhoff, Hanna Smith ran the first three legs of the race. Their winning time was 4:13.37, a little more than a second faster than second place Big Sky. Corvallis’ 400 meter relay team finished third.
Henderson also finished second in the 400. Eickhoff was second in the 1,600 with a time of 5:23.72. Isabella Pape was third in the 800 (2:27.27) and third in the 3,200 (12:05.22). Connors finished third in the triple jump with 34-1.25. Jessica Lewis was fourth in the high jump with a leap of 5-1. Aspen Evans was second in the pole vault with a vault of 10-6. In the throwing events, Carlie Jessop finished third in the shot put (33-6) and third in the discus with 115 feet. Teammate Courtney Albright was fifth in the discus with 109-1.
Hamilton’s Meghan Kratofil threw the discus 118-5 to claim first place in that event. She threw the shot put 31-6.25 to take sixth. Camie Westfall cleared the bar at 9 feet in the pole vault to finish fifth.
Stevensville’s Britney Chilcott earned all of the points for the Yellowjackets. She placed fifth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.38. Chilcott also earned points in the javelin. She threw the javelin 115-4 for second place.
The Corvallis boys finished third behind Flathead and Big Sky. The Blue Devils earned the majority of their points in the throwing events. Butt was the only event winner with an effort of 156-1 in the discus. Fellow Blue Devils, Austin Atkins and Jimmy Henderson took second and fourth respectively with throws of 147-3 and 141-8. Atkins was fifth in the shot put with 46-2. In the javelin, Raymond Jessop was second with 166-11, Stuart Landis was fourth with 166-1, and Tyler Olsen was fifth with 165-6. Landis was also fifth in the triple jump with 42-5.
Colby Henderson was third in the 800 with a time of 1:57.77. Chase Stoker was second in the 3,200 with a time of 9:54.16. He finished fourth in the 1,600 with a time of 4:42.69. The 1.600 relay team was edged by Flathead by a nose. Flathead won with a time of 3:34.24 while Corvallis finished with a time of 3:34.53.
Darby was sixth in that relay with a time of 3:37.89. Doug Raymer won the 800 with a blistering time of 1:54.62.
Stevensville’s Josh Lords won the long jump with a leap of 21-9. He was third in the 200 with a time of 23.12. He finished sixth in the 100 with 11.91. Jesse Sims was sixth in the shot put with 46-0.5.
Hamilton’s Easton Albert picked up points in the distance events. The sophomore was fifth in the 3,200 with a time of 10:11.83. He finished sixth in the 1,600 with 4:48.05. Abe Westfall finished fourth in the triple jump with an effort of 42-11.
Victor’s Kurt Manely was third in the javelin with a throw of 166-9. Kyle Ball was third in the triple jump with a leap of 44-5.5.
Florence was at the Bigfork Invitational on Saturday. The girl’s team finished sixth behind Whitefish, Plains, Seeley, Bigfork, and Cut Bank. The Porch sisters – Hannah and Tess – were neck and neck in the sprints. Tess took second in the 100 with 13.11 and Hannah was right behind with a time of 13.18. In the 200, it was Hannah finishing third with 27.23 and Tess in fourth with 27.28. Hannah was second in the long jump with 15-6 and third in the triple jump with 31-3.5. Jessica DesJarlais threw the shot put 30-4 for fourth. Rosie O’Brien took fourth in the javelin with a throw of 101 feet.
The Florence boys finished fifth behind Bigfork, Whitefish, Frenchtown, and Ronan-St. Ignatius. Brady Blomquist was third in the 200 with a time of 23.8. He was second in the 400 with 52.42. He also ran the first leg of the 1,600 relay. The team, comprised of Blomquist, Brady Heffner, Dylan Reynolds an Aaron Ward, won that race in 3:38.40. Reynolds was fifth in the 110 hurdles (16.59), second in the 300 hurdles (40.67) and second in the triple jump (40-5.5). Tanner Cobbs was fifth in the 200 (24.50). Ryan Mangun was sixth in the discus (114-0).
Thursday was the beginning of the track week for valley schools with the Darby/Florence Invite at Corvallis. Corvallis won the girls team scoring and Stevensville won the boys team scoring.
