Hamilton’s Eliana Foss is the 2022 Class A State Tennis Champion in girl’s singles, and the Hamilton girls earned 2nd place as a team. The Class A State tennis tournament was held in Bozeman on May 26th & 27th. Foss came into state as the #1 seed from the southwest division, and won four straight matches to win the title. In the semi-final match, Foss defeated Polson’s Clara Todd, the #1 seed from the northwest division, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. Then in the title match, Foss defeated the #1 seed from the southeast division, Billing Central’s Evelyn Nelson, 6-3, 6-1. Corvallis’s girls doubles team of Hailey Anderson and Madison Henry won four matches and lost two and took 5th place. Hamilton’s boys double team of Andy Purcell and Colin Hanley won three and lost two and took 5th place.
Also in the girls singles at State, Corvallis’s Dakota Powell won two matches and lost two matches, and Hamilton’s Gracie Hawkes
won two and lost two. In the
boy’s singles, Corvallis’s Ryan Hutchison won one and lost two, and Hamilton’s Cooper Gurney lost two matches. In girls doubles, Hamilton’s Maria Kanenwisher and Brynn Lehtola won one and lost two. Corvallis’s Kennedy Yaskus and Lilly Trail lost two. In boy’s doubles, Corvallis’s Nik Tilia and Luke Sangster won one and lost two. Hamilton’s Liam O’Connell and Jackson Heath lost two matches.
