Corvallis, Stevensville, and Hamilton participated in the Columbia Falls Iceberg Invitational on Saturday, April 23rd, and, contrary to the event’s name and recent weather trends, it was a pleasantly warm spring day.
Several Bitterroot Valley athletes shined for the boys. Taylor Searle of Hamilton won the Pole Vault with a vault of 14’1, giving Searle the best mark in the state this year regardless of class. Hamilton’s Colter Kirkland won the 800m in 1:58.39. This time is the fastest in Class A this year. Kirkland also finished 5th in the Pole Vault (12’0). Also in the Pole Vault, Hamilton’s Jack Ellis finished 4th (12’6) and Andrew Carmody finished 6th (12’0). Stevensville’s Kellan Beller took 1st in the Javelin (171’2), while Hamilton’s Tyson Rostad took 2nd (164’11), Stevensville’s Brodan Gard was 5th (136’9), and Hamilton’s Jackson Jessop took 6th (135’0). Hamilton’s 4×100 relay team of Bauder, Cianflone, Rostad, and Taylor won the event (44.45). Hamilton’s 4×400 relay team of Taylor, Apedaile, Cruse, and Cianflone took 3rd (3:44.92). Hamilton’s Andrew Burrows won the Discus (144’8) and took 3rd in the Shot Put (45’8). Stevensville’s Hunter Gum took 4th in the Shot Put (45’4), and Corvallis’s Bryce Weidow took 6th (43’11). Corvallis’s Remington DeVantier took 5th in the Discus (122’3). Hamilton’s Tyson Bauder took 4th in the 100m (11.58). Hamilton’s Max Cianflone took 3rd in the 200m (23.87). Hamilton’s Ephram Apedaile took 5th in the 400m (55.29). Hamilton’s Harrison Silverio took 4th in the 1600m (4:50.73). Hamilton’s Carver Tison finished 3rd in the 3200m (10:56.16). Corvallis’s Nate Davis took 6th in the 110m Hurdles (17.50) and 6th in the 300m Hurdles (45.97). Hamilton’s Hudson Bain took 4th in the Triple Jump (37’11.5).
On the girls’ side, many Bitterroot Valley athletes stood out. Corvallis’s Madison Lewis won the Shot Put (39’0) and took 2nd in the Discus (115’1), Lewis has the best Shot Put throw in Class A this year. Corvallis’s Tahnee Lewis won the Javelin (103’1). Stevensville’s Claire Hutchison won the 200m (27.12), took 2nd in the 400m (1:02.00), and got 5th in the High Jump (4’8). Hamilton’s Lily Apendaile took 6th in the 400m (1:05.99) and took 5th in the Triple Jump (30’11.5). Hamilton’s Kinga Kari took 4th in the 1600m (5:53.80), and Hamilton’s Rylee Brackman took 6th (5:56.40). Hamilton’s Julia Siefert took 5th in the 300m Hurdles (53.56). In the Shot put, Corvallis’s Alina Brown took 4th (32’8) and Corvallis’s Merideth Buhler took 6th (30’10.5). Hamilton’s Ayda Griffin took 3rd (106’8) in the Discus and 5th in the High Jump (4’8). In the Discus, Stevensville’s Crystal Hazel took 4th (105’6), and Corvallis’s Alina Brown took 6th (98’1). In the Javelin, Corvallis’s Milana Bestor took 5th (91’0) and Corvallis’s Britta Iman took 6th (88’10). Hamilton’s Reagan Burrows took 5th in the Long Jump (15’1) and 3rd in the Triple Jump (31’11). Corvallis’s Ashli Jessop took 6th in the Pole Vault (6’0). Hamilton’s relay team of Murray, Nelson, Burrows, and Searle got 4th in the 4×100 relay. In the 4×400 relay, Hamilton’s team of N. Bruno, Siefert, F. Bruno, and Kari took 3rd, while Corvallis’s team of Herbert, Jessop, Miller, and Williamson took 5th.
Darby, Florence-Carlton, and Victor competed in the Seeley-Swan Invitational on Saturday, April 23rd. For the girls, Darby’s Hadassah Wilson had a big day. She took second in the 200m (27.70) and 2nd in the 400m (1:02.52), and 2nd in the Long Jump (17-03), which is the longest jump this year in Class C. Florence’s Trista Williams took 2nd in the Shot Put with a throw of 32-03.50. Florence’s Allison Streekstra finished 6th in the 3200M with a time of 15:02.68. Darby’s 4×100 relay team of Makena Hawkinson, Kadence Fisher, Hadassah Wilson, and Amber Anderson took 5th with a time of 54.28. Florence’s 4×400 relay team of Kendall Boehm, Dylan Kidd, Isaebel Hartsell-Miller, and Aislynn Cambell took 6th.
For the boys, Florence’s Nathaniel Gale finished second in the 1600m with a time of 4:39.58, which is the second fastest time in Class B this year. Gale finished 2nd in the 3200m at 10:26.00. Darby’s William Martin took 6th in the 300m Hurdles at 44.76. Florence’s Quinn Lue finished 4th in the High Jump with a jump of 5-10. Victor’s Canyon Parks took 6th in the Triple Jump with a jump of 38-08.50.
