This letter is in response to Grace Wilson’s March 23, 2022, letter in the Bitterroot Star, “Support for Lackey.”
At the 2021 Ravalli County Fair, Alan Lackey and his wife Terri had a booth promoting “Tactical Civics.” After researching Tactical Civics to find out details, I have a hard time following Grace’s support for Alan Lackey for HD 88. Everything in Tactical Civics is anti-legislation, anti-law and order, and is anti-Republican. The god served is “freedom,” not the God of our Holy Bible.
The whole agenda of Tactical Civics is to only obey parts of the Constitution of the State of Montana and the Constitution of the U.S.A. that they want to follow. The parts that they do not want to follow are nullified (to null, or make or render of no value). The Southern block of states during the Civil War wanted to nullify their connection to the Union and carry out secession from the Union.
Alan is not a legislator. The legislative branch of our Montana State and the US legislative branch have the power to see that the laws are faithfully carried out. Not to nullify what the laws are. The final stage of Tactical Civics is to nullify our Montana State Laws, set up a state-run militia (which is against the law of the State of Montana), which would become the state law. And the final stage is of secession of the State of Montana from the Union of the States.
These Tactical Civics people are angry people. They are not happy people, upholding Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Liberty only, carried to extreme, easily slips over into lawlessness.
In order to be called a Republican, one must be a centered Republican and a true conservative. Tactical Civics and John Birch Society “Republicans” are Extreme Right, and use the Left’s tactics to call those that object to their thinking, “moderates” and “rhinos.”

Susan,
Don’t know much about Tactical Civics…but I do know Alan Lackey and he is fine God fearing man with a passion for the Constitution and America.
Please do some research on “nullification” as it pertains to the US Constitution before labeling Alan an extremist. Alan does support NULLIFICATION as it pertains to States’ rights under the U.S. Constitution. If a law passed by The US Congress is unconstitutional, the State has the right to NULLIFY it. And that is to my understanding what Alan supports and believes.
As far as JBS, I am a member of JBS and before you spout off and malign JBS, do some research…or maybe you are a leftist in disguise.
