Stevensville
The staff at the North Valley Public Library in Stevensville would like to publicly thank the members of the NVPL Foundation. All members volunteer their time to raise money in support of the library.
As a District Library, we are mainly funded by taxes from property owners within the boundaries of the Stevensville and Lone Rock school districts. Additional funding is from grants, donations, and state aid. All the work the foundation does helps to directly pay for things like new shelves, building repairs, programs for adults, teens and children, and many other things that enrich the library experience for our community.
During the past year, the NVPL Foundation raised nearly $7,000 for the library by holding numerous fundraising events throughout the community. These included:
· Business Battle for Books, where local stores competed to raise funds for the library. (This year’s event is going on now.)
· Birdies for Books, an annual golf tournament and the foundation’s largest fundraiser of the year. Eight teams competed for donated prizes.
· Brews for Books, which are pint night events held at generous local breweries. (An upcoming Brews for Books is planned for Saturday, Feb. 26, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Tin Can Bar & Draft Room in Stevensville.)
· Fundraising and informational table, staffed by NPVL Foundation volunteers during both the Scarecrow Festival and the Stevensville Country Christmas, which also helped raise awareness of the library.
In addition to these activities, our foundation members research and write grants for funds to pay for extra or ongoing expenses.
A big “thank you” to our current foundation members Carla Sanders, Amy Horlacher, Donna Bainbridge, Jody Torrey and Maryjo Lykins, as well as those who served before.
No accolades for our volunteers would be complete without also giving a shout-out to our Board of Trustees, who give their time each month to oversee library operations for their community.
If you are interested in further information or in joining our foundation, please contact Carla at (406) 777-7318 or harrisonsanders@aol.com.
Thank you, volunteers!
