The Bitterroot Valley Community College is seeking up to a 10.75 mil PERMANENT levy on real estate in much of Ravalli County to cover operational expenses which will be passed on to every taxpayer in increased rental rates and business overhead causing further price inflation.
This levy is asking home and business owners, most of whom did not go to college or already paid for their college, to now finance someone else’s college education. This is another back-door strategy to implement Biden’s call for “student loan forgiveness”. When student’s aren’t required to bear the burden of their choices, those choices often become wasteful and unproductive. Charging a higher tuition instead will make students take their studies more seriously and accept responsibility for their choices.
Also, the BVCC budget is excessive with 50% going to administration. Average salary & benefits total $71,700 per person! Compare that to the average household income in Ravalli county of only $58,800. Nor does this budget address the projected $25 million capital project to buy and develop property for the college which will require additional levies later.
Stop this runaway boondoggle now. Vote “NO” to the BVCC levy.

I agree with all the comments above and have learned from the minutes of the Bitterroot College that the college is in severe or dire financial straits. The group pushing the community college wants us to take over that debt – no thanks. VOTE NO ON THE LEVY!

The last thing Ravalli County needs is more liberal influence from the U of Montana. We don’t need more leftist/Marxist teaching. Nor do we additional property taxes at any time. We need to cut govt spending including local and State govt.

Bravo! It’s time for an initiative to make illegal the asking of money from private property owners via levy’s. Why in the world would we want to add even more cost to home ownership in the skyrocketing local housing market? Absurd.
