Stevensville – Paula, as she preferred to be called, went to be with her Heavenly Father November 23, 2021.Her husband Robert was at her side.
Paula, the youngest of 10 children, was born in Kanawha County, West Virginia to Volley and Gertrude Beckner, a Baptist Preacher. She grew up in and around Charleston where she met and married Dale Monk. That union produced 2 children, a daughter Linda Kay and a son Rodger Dale. After they divorced Paula moved to the Cape Canaveral Florida area where she met and married Robert, December 22, 1970. Robert was active Coast Guard for 20 years. Together they were transferred to St Petersburg Fl, Memphis Tn, Petersburg, Alaska, Eureka, Ca and retired at Galveston, Tx. in 1987. Upon retirement they returned to Petersburg, Ak and lived there until moving to Stevensville, Mt. in 2003. Paula was a life-long member of the Baptist Church, a very active member of the Stevensville TOPS club since first arriving in the Bitterroot Valley. Paula’s favorite activities were shopping, growing flowers, raising a garden and mowing the lawn on her own riding mower.
Paula was proceeded in death by her two children, Linda and Rodger, her 5 brothers William (Willie), Hansford (Hank), Arley (Dick), James (Bill), and Daniel (Cotton), and her 4 sisters, Sylvia Cobb, Beulah Casto, Wilma Withrow and Audrey Sergent. Paula is survived by her husband Robert, nephew Danny Beckner of Charleston WV and grand niece Vada Newman Kessell of Ripley WV.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Sunnyside Cemetery. A celebration of Paula’s life will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 5:00 P.M. at the Florence Carlton Community Church.
