Dear Editor,
This letter is in response to M.I. Holt’s letter on January 27, titled “mean-spirited nonsense.” Holt’s whole letter is mean spirited — and heavy on the nonsense.
Cody Omlid has worked hard through the years, and is a self made businessman. He owns and literally built Kodiak Jax, and three other restaurants, stretching from Florence to Hamilton. He pays taxes, employs many people, and has supported community functions, for a long time. In accordance with the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, he is accorded freedom of speech, and can express his ideas on his billboard in front of his business as he sees fit. Along those same lines, you can express your own ideas, as misguided as they may be, and we can tell you publicly that we disagree with you.
All this is because of the First Amendment, a part of a Constitution which has served us well for over 200 years, and which seems to be in danger of extinction at the hands of “silencers” like you . Who made you Cody’s censor? Many of us support what he is saying and appreciate his backbone in standing up for his principles.
We are saying to all of our friends, please support Cody’s businesses. You will be served excellent food while standing up for free speech and free choice. Dine in, or order take out from Cody’s restaurants as often as you can!
