The Stevensville Yellowjackets jumped out to an early lead in Monday night’s Southwest A challenge game. They were up by as many as nine points before Corvallis got their offense going. The Hamilton gym was packed with Corvallis, Stevensville and general basketball fans. Stevensville won, 55-42.
The ‘Jackets were relaxed and running hard. They controlled the boards with freshman Jesse Sims pulling down 12 of their 40 rebounds. Although Corvallis made a few runs in the first half, they couldn’t close the gap. The scene was the same in the beginning of the second half. Stevensville jumped out and scored three quick baskets before Corvallis got going. Corvallis’ Riley Bradshaw, playing in his final high school game, tried his best to spark the offense but even his shots wouldn’t fall. He finished with 17 points. The entire crowd gave him a standing ovation when he left the game.
