By Joe Petrusaitis, Hamilton, former mayor and councilor for 18 years
There are at least nine churches from Hamilton that over the years have had to buy adjoining property or move outside of the city limits to expand or provide extra parking due to growth. Why should the church presently in litigation be allowed to violate Zoning laws? I have nothing against any legitimate church, but why even have zoning laws if they will seldom, if ever be enforced? Any person on any board, including the council, should recuse themselves from voting on this issue. It’s time our city starts to learn to say no. I cannot remember the last time the Z.B.A. said NO to a request. Please enlighten us. Your citizen resident taxpayers are breathlessly waiting for answers! P.S. please give copies of this letter to the appropriate Board, Planner, and council.
