By Mark Adams, Stevensville
There are some people in Stevensville who do not understand the recall process. I will make an attempt to clarify the situation.
1) If an elected official does something outside the law (including municipal policies), the people have the right to remove that person from office.
2) In order to remove that official there has to be a recall petition filed. The petition cannot be based on hearsay. Hard verifiable objective evidence has to be submitted to the County Attorney. If the County Attorney finds the evidence to be true, then he will approve the petition.
3) The County Attorney does not act as the judge. The document is then put out to be signed by 20% of the registered voters of the jurisdiction.
4) If the petition is in fact signed by 20% of the voters, the issue is then put on the ballot to be voted on.
I find it ironic that the Mayor is using the same purchasing policy to justify his position that the County Attorney used to justify the recall. It cannot be both ways. It seems the standard mode of operation is deflect, distract, and mislead. Obviously, he desperately wants to remain in office. When a Town Council member requested the credit card receipts for the Town, the Mayor refused to allow that to happen. What is the Mayor trying to hide?
The simple fact remains: the Mayor signed a contract for over $75,000 without approval. It is one contract with one signature, period. This issue is abundantly clear, THE MAYOR BROKE THE LAW.

I fail to understand the logic of fighting so hard to retain a low paying position in a town that wishes you removed. Even if the recall is blocked, this mayor will forever be referred to as the recall mayor. Of course the mayor has supporters and Sue Allan/Devlin is among the most vociferous. Her constant praise of the mayor is extreme. Her constant hatred of Mr. Micalsonn is more extreme.. She is blinded by her unwillingness to see even a tiny bit of decency in other people. Her anger drives her. I would wish for all of us to see a kinder, gentler Sue. Surely, that human being resides inside somewhere..

You just don’t get it, do you? I don’t “hate anyone” – I hate the deceit, lies, back alley dealings – that have been part of Stevensville’s politics for way too many years. So, yes, I have been helping get the truth out to the community.
I see decency in many many people.
BTW, have you seen that the judge has put a 10 day injunction on your ridiculous, lying recall of our hardworking, honest Mayor???

Keep the Mayor, get rid of the bad eggs in the council !
Sue Devlin says
Perfectly said, Jan Lechner!
