Mr. Mayor – What is up with these constant water bill increases?!
Just seven months ago it was stated in a town council meeting that the water bureau had more than enough money to operate systems and keep up infrastructure.
It was then voted on to reduce the residential water bill amount by 3%. A great idea, but due to an apparent previously unknown law the reduction was not only prohibited but, instead, the fees were increased 3%!
Now, I receive my current water bill and discover it is raised another approximately 2.5%. What is going on over there? These are the highest water rates in the state, if not the country! Talking about kicking the citizens when they’re down! Where is all of this money going? Not into the water system! Everybody agrees the water we get tastes like a bottle of chlorine. It’s the worst I’ve ever tasted. How about cutting it down a bit? The water isn’t that contaminated.
How about giving Stevensville citizens a break for awhile during this shared crisis? Many of us are unemployed now and a moratorium on the water bills would go a long way to alleviate our financial pain.
