Dear Editor,
I hope the person or persons who vandalized the Creamery Park just after Christmas will read this letter. They disturbed the peaceful beauty of the Christmas lights, they shattered them all over, damaged tables, and vandalized the snowmen. The Civic Club has paid to have lights replaced before and now will have an additional cost. What a disrespectful act to the community and the volunteers.
The Creamery Park is maintained by volunteers and the Potton Family who own Farmers Insurance next to it. Litter and dog waste is cleaned up regularly all year. In the summer, the trees, shrubs and irrigation system are maintained by volunteers. The Pottons provide the power for the lights and irrigation system, and pick up the cost of the water.
As a community we are fortunate to have citizens who give of their time and effort and resources. Especially along Main Street where the Garden Club decorates the flower boxes, businesses water the trees, Earth and Wood donates their time to prune the trees and the Main Street Association is always there to promote business and bring people into town. We present an environment of welcome and pride in our community.
So it is sad when the few bent on mischief destroy some of those attributes. They should come forth and volunteer to compensate for the damage.
