Norma L. (Smith) Wirgau passed into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ at the Valley View Estates in Hamilton, Montana on Thursday, December 5, 2019. She was born October 22, 1923 to Frederick A. and Ethel (McCallum) Smith in Mt. Morris, Michigan. She married Arthur R. Wirgau in Detroit, Michigan on August 5, 1944. Together they raised four children. Norma was a homemaker who loved to sew, quilt, garden, read and when they retired to Arizona she learned to paint, leaving several lovely oils to children and grandchildren.
She moved to Hamilton in 2008 after Arthur’s passing to be near her daughter. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and loved the quilting group until her eyesight deteriorated five years ago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five siblings and two grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Arthur F. Wirgau (Sandra) – Clinton Twp., MI, Kathleen S. Rebich (Eugene) – Hamilton, MT., Ralph E. Wirgau (Kristine) – Richmond, MI, and Glenn A. Wirgau (Julie) – Port Washington, WI. 11 Grandchildren, 11 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place with a memorial service to be held later. Memorials may be sent to Grace Lutheran Church or Marcus Daly Hospice program. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.brothersmortuary.com.
