We are so lucky to live in a country where democracy is the rule of law. With this being said, we should not continue to give our power over to wealthy corporations and anonymous billionaires who control the outcomes of our elections. One of the intentions of the founding fathers of the United States of America was to keep the power of elections in the hands of the citizens of the United States. Ever since the passing of Citizens United, we have watched the slow degradation of the power that “we the people”, the citizens of Montana and the United States, have in our own elections.
Right now, in our state and in states across the country, powerful outside interests can and do spend millions of dollars to influence our elected officials. This makes it harder for ordinary peoples’ voices to be heard. We are getting lost in our own democratic process! This is terribly wrong and needs to stop now! Our elected officials should answer to the voices of Montanans, the people they represent, not the corporations that donated money to their campaign.
Montanans have always valued their independence. We have proudly elected officials in the past that makes decisions based on what is best for OUR communities, OUR children, OUR seniors, etc. We do not need out-of-state corporations and anonymous billionaires whispering in OUR elected officials’ ears to influence the decisions being made in OUR state!
If you agree, you have the power to affect change in our election process by voting YES for I-194 The Montana Plan in this November’s election.
