Democratic accomplishments

October 29, 2026 by Guest Post Leave a Comment

by Bill and Becky Peters, Hamilton

When we were on our 20’s we voted as independents. We voted for the person who  advocated for what we held as important to our society, whether they be Democrats or Republicans. Jump ahead to the 2000’s and we are died in the wool Democrats. Year after year it kept appearing that the Democratic party was doing the most to keep American citizens healthy, happy and safe. We never agreed with the Dems on every single thing but it was obvious their party cared the most for others.

So have you wondered what the Democratic Party has done for you and yours all these years? Read this list then go and find a Democrat and thank them. It seemed to us that the Democrats’ core belief was that a government should actually work to benefit ordinary working people and not the morbidly rich. These are just some of the Democratic accomplishments initiated by Democratic Presidents, Senators, and Congress Members: Women’s right to vote, Peace Corps, 40-hour work week, Minimum wage law, Overtime pay, Social Security act, unemployment compensation, Rural Electrification act, Federal Home Loan Program, Student Loan Program, School Lunch Program, Head Start, Medicare, Medicaid, Family and Medical Leave act, Civil Rights act, Voting Rights act, Student Debt Relief, Investments in Clean Energy, expanded Health Care for Veterans, Inflation Reduction Act, VA, GI Bill, Antitrust Laws, Health Care for 9/11 Workers, Snap, FDA, CDC, National Weather Service, Farm Subsidies, EPA, Polio Vaccine, Ending child labor, Affordable Care Act!! Whew! These programs help us and our loved ones feel healthy, happy, and safe.

Now we are not the kind of people to tell you which party to vote for (cause we are Democrats!) but we’d sure like to see a list of Republican programs initiated by them in the last 50 or 60 years that benefited every day Americans. Then I think we could compare lists and see which party does their best to help your parents, your family, your friends, your future generations.
