Corvallis scored early and often against Stevensville at the ‘Jackets’ Homecoming game. Corvallis took advantage of several Stevensville turnovers and turned many of them into touchdowns. Whenever Stevensville started to gain some momentum, a loss of yardage or a turnover stopped them cold. Corvallis scored in the first 90 seconds of the game when Liang Liedle threw to Jace Barcus for the touchdown. The two-point conversion was good and the Blue Devils were off and rolling. Just four minutes later, Liedle broke loose for 68 yards and six points. The conversion was again good.
Kyler Pancake pushed through the Blue Devil line and logged 13 yards, taking the ball to the two-yard line. With first down and goal to go, Stevensville pushed but Corvallis pushed back harder. With fourth down and one yard to the end zone, the Jackets fumbled and Corvallis took over.
Liedle threw to Jacob Dalby who moved the ball up to the 44-yard line to give the Devils some breathing room. However, a sack by Stevensville pushed them back and they had to punt. With time running out in the first quarter, Stevensville had another opportunity but once again, a fumble ended their chances.
The Yellowjacket defense stopped the Blue Devils and took over on downs at the 30-yard line. However, a pass by Stevensville quarterback Payten Davids was picked off by Dalby and returned 36 yards for the score. Liedle rushed for the two-point conversion. Hunter Pinheiro raced six yards to add to the score for Corvallis with less than six minutes remaining in the half. Rory Jessop picked off another ‘Jacket pass and set up the final drive of the half for the Blue Devils. Liedle scurried nine yards for the score with only three ticks left in the half. Corvallis was up by 36 points at the half, prompting a running clock in the second half.
Corvallis scored twice more in the game. Liedle had a seven-yard scoring run. Jessop caught a Liedle pass for the two-point conversion. The fourth quarter score was a repeat of the first Blue Devil score, a 24-yard pass from Liedle to Barcus. The final score, Corvallis 50, Stevensville 0.
Hamilton had a successful Homecoming with a 54-21 drubbing of Butte Central. The Broncs tallied up 40 points in the first half and had a running clock to help them in the second half. (Once there is a 35-point difference in the second half, the clock only stops for time outs or injuries.)
The duo of Carson Rostad and Cam Rothie accounted for the first three touchdowns with Rostad hitting Rothie for the scores. Michael Golden had three touchdowns also, two rushing TDs and a pass from Rostad. Rostad also rushed for one touchdown. Caden Brown returned a kickoff for six in the third quarter.
