October 5, 2018 by Editor

Stevensville – Frederick W. Honing, 87, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 30, 2018 with his wife and son by his side.

Fred was born June 5, 1931, in Ogden, Utah, to William and Viola Honing. Raised in Ogden, he graduated from  Ogden High School and attended Weber College, graduating from Utah State University, Logan, Utah. He met his wife, Beverly Ann Herrington, in high school and they were married February 23, 1950. Fred and Beverly spent 68 wonderful years together.

Fred was a veteran of the Korean War serving honorably in the US Air Force. He enjoyed a long and successful career with the US Forest Service, retiring after 25 years of service as Deputy Director, Forest Pest Management, Washington, DC.

Fred found the good in everyone and was a true friend    to many. He excelled at hunting, fishing, and gardening and was a man of many talents.

Surviving are his wife Beverly and son Brian at the family home in Stevensville, brother Raymond (Evelyn), N. Ogden, UT, sister Marilyn (Theron) Fowers, Pleasant View, UT and many nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his father, mother, and sister Afton Hancock.

At Fred’s request there will be no services. A private burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Stevensville, MT, with full military honors by Fort Owen Post 94, Stevensville American Legion. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Thomas Frandsen and the Hospice workers from Partners in Home Care. The family suggests memorial donations be made in Fred’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at whitesittfuneralhome.com.
