The Corvallis boys brought home another state championship from the Class A State Track and Field meet in Laurel this weekend. This is the fourth championship in 10 years. With winners on both the track and in the field, they notched 79 points compared to second place Miles City who had 62 points. Hamilton finished with 17 points.
In the running events, Jake Jessop came through in the 400 to win that event with a time of 50.83. Second place was Jack Waddell of Livingston who was only 3/100ths of a second behind him. Jessop was second in the 800. Andrew Andra finished fourth in the 100 and fifth in the 200. In the distance races, Anders Watt third in the 1,600 with a time of 4:34.14. He was also fourth in the 3,200 with 9:59.23. Grant Martin was fourth in the 1,600 with a time of 4:34.18, and he was second in the 3,200 with a time of 9:57.67. The Corvallis 4×400 relay team finished in sixth behind Livingston, Columbia falls, Dillon, Miles City and Sidney.
Ridge Albright won the high jump with a leap of 6-4. Logan Lewis was second in the triple jump with a leap of 43-02.5. Zach Jessop won the javelin with a throw of 181-04. GarrettBrown finished fourth in the shot put of 51-09.
Hamilton’s Jacob Campbell finished third in the shot put with a put of 52-04. He was sixth the discus with a throw of 139-03. Michael Graves finished in second place in the javelin with a throw of 180-04.Tony Wiggins was fifth with 172-06 in that event.
The Corvallis girls finished in seventh place behind Dillon, Miles City, Belgrade, Lewistown, Whitefish and Laurel. Dillon had 59 points in the evenly scored meet. Corvallis finished with 35 points, Hamilton had 22 and Stevensville 14.
Calla Haldorson brought home the lone championship for the girls. She won the discus, an event she has dominated for the last three years. Her throw of 143-10 was over 12 feet farther than second place. Brooke Wiltbank was fourth in that event with a throw of 122-08. Denali Smith was third in the shot put with a throw of 37-10.5. Tayler Wright was third in the javelin with a throw of 117-06. Hannah Martin was fifth in the 3,200 with a time of 12:16.15. Kailee McCready was sixth I the 300 hurdles. The 4×400 relay team finished sixth behind Whitefish, Belgrade, Libby, Miles City and Frenchtown. Maureen Jessop was fifth I the high jump with a leap of 5-0 and Hannah Hutchinson was sixth at 5-0. Kailen Herbstritt was fourth in the pole vault.
Hamilton’s Cariann Kunkel placed second in the javelin with a throw of 127-01.Angellica Street of Columbia Falls set a state record with a throw of 147-07. Kunkel was second in the high jump also. Brynnli Poulsen was fourth in the 1,600 and the 3,200.
Megan Pendergast of Stevensville finished out her high school career with a third place finish in the 100 hurdles and a second place finish in the 300 hurdles. Ashton Lewis finished fifth in the long jump.
Casey Ehmann of Darby won the 300 hurdles at the State Class C meet in Great Falls. She had a time 46.46. Ehmann was fourth in the 100 hurdles. Gracie Lang finished second in the 3,200 and finished sixth in the 1,600.
Jethro Thorne of Florence finished second in the 400 with a time of 49.91. Cade Johnstone of Forsyth won with 49.39.
