Hamilton and Stevensville finished in first and second place in regular conference standings in the Southwest A conference in volleyball. They both earned a first round bye at the Divisional Tournament at Butte Central this weekend. Hamilton will play the winner of the Corvallis/Anaconda match at 11 a.m. on Friday. Stevensville will play the winner of the Butte Central/Dillon match. That match will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday.
Stevensville defeated Butte Central on Thursday to finish second in the conference. Although the match was only four games, all four games were hard fought with almost every point being contested.
Stevensville coach Lindsey Day was pleased with her team and how they responded when they got behind. “The seniors, they know this is it for them. They are playing with a lot of passion right now.”
She said her team was playing with more drive than they’ve shown all season. Along with the five seniors, her younger players have really toughened up and are playing well.
“Emily Lewis and Traylyn Gardner haven’t played a lot of varsity and they really stepped it up in a tie game.”
Britney Chilcott had 31 kills and three blocks in the match against Butte Central. Molly Brewer also had three kills.

Hamilton defeated Corvallis on Thursday. Hamilton won the match but not without a battle from the Blue Devils. Penny Gwynn had 15 kills and the Hood twins – Nichole and Rebecka – had four blocks each for the Lady Broncs. Corvallis was led by Whitney Jessop who had 12 kills and three blocks.

Darby and Victor were at the District 13 C tournament in Drummond. The Lady Tigers defeated Alberton but lost to Valley Christian. Victor also defeated Alberton but lost to Drummond and Seeley-Swan.
