There were 17 teams at the Frenchtown Invitational on Saturday. The weather was good in the morning but as the day went on, the clouds and the rain came, and eventually stopped the competition. The Dillon boys and the Dillon girls brought home the team titles and served notice on Corvallis that they would be in the hunt for the divisional title in a few weeks. Corvallis finished less than two points behind the Dillon girls. Stevensville came in third. Hamilton finished sixth and Florence 11th.
Emme Warnken of Corvallis won the 400 with a time of 1:02.69. Calla Haldorson continued her dominance with the discus with a throw of 132’6”, the best in the state so far this season. Hamilton’s Kacia Guisinger cleared the high jump bar at 5’2” to win that event again. Stevensville had two winners. Megan Pendergast won the 300 hurdles with a time of 50.25. Mariah Hinson won the triple jump with a leap of 35’3”. This mark is also the best in the state. The 200, 800, 3200, 400 meter relay, long jump, and shot put were not held because of the weather.
Corvallis came in third behind Dillon and Fairfield in the boys events. Victor, Hamilton and Stevensville finished down in the list. Jake Jessop won the 400 meter race with a time of 53.44. Andrew Jessop won the 1600 meter race with a time of 4:39.09. The. 200, 3,200, discus, javelin, triple jump and 400 relay were all cancelled due to the weather.
Corvallis did win both the boys and girls team scoring at the Florence/Darby Invitational held in Corvallis on Thursday where 18 teams took part. Heidi Nisly of Corvallis won the 1,600 with a time of 5:40.0. Haldorson threw the discus 127’11” to win that event. Darby’s Gracie Lang won the 3,200 with a time of 12:22.79. Autumn Round of Florence won the triple jump with a leap of 34’4”.
The Blue Devil boys easily outdistanced the rest of the field. Andrew Jessop won the 800 with a time of 2:05.50. Grant Martin broke the tape first in the 1,600 with a time of 4:51.62. Carson Jessop won the 3,200 with a time of 10:35.0. Cole Wohltman cleared the high jump bar a 6’1” to win that event. Braxton Roth won the triple jump with a leap of 40’5”.
Darby’s Kye McCollaum won both the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles with times of 17.06 in the 110 hurdles and 43.08 in the 300 hurdles. Caden Venters of Florence won the javelin with a throw of 178’2”.
