Senseless

The following letter was sent to the city council a month ago, and no response at all, so I’m placing it in the paper,  as others feel the same way with the same questions.
Dear Hamilton City Council:
Yes, a parking ticket. Let’s see, it was 5 above zero, four cars on the whole street, so the only reason for the ticket was to make a couple bucks off the merchants. We would have parked in back BUT the alley isn’t maintained at all so is a very rough ice sheet. Hardly safe for an 80-year-old couple to cross.
Last summer two groups of ladies from Missoula stopped in the store as they do each year. Said they wouldn’t be back. Came to have lunch and shop the stores. Got tickets. How many more had the same experience?
What possibly could be the reason? Many don’t shop downtown anymore.
Now while you’re at it, how many time fines did you collect last year from bicyclists? I counted 25 continuous riders in the past several months on my way home in the evening. 17 broke at least one driving law. Nine rode directly through 4-way stops; four rode right through red lights; almost hit one that decided to pass us on the right as we were turning in to park. Some turned right with no stop, some on the sidewalk, etc. All creating a hazard and breaking the law.
Not as important, however, as parking in front of our own business on a zero degree day. Thanks.
