With only two applicants under consideration for the vacant position of Public Health Nurse Director, the Ravalli County Commissioners decided last week to award the contract to current Public Health Nurse Angie Spooner.
Commissioner Jeff Burrows said that, in his opinion, both applicants rated fairly well in terms of the basic qualifications, however, Spooner stood out when it came to answering office specific questions. He said this indicated a potential for a smoother transition.
Both Commissioners Greg Chilcott and Doug Schallenberger said that Spooner came out higher in their numbered rating of responses.
Commissioner Ray Hawk said, “My impression was Angie was the best.”
Commissioner Chris Hoffman said the bottom line for him was the ease in transition with Spooner, “and she knocked it out of the park in terms of the reporting requirements.”
The commissioners voted unanimously to approve an annual salary of $59,500, or about $28.60 per hour.
