North Valley Pachyderm Club
The North Valley Pachyderm Club will meet Friday, September 2 at 12 noon at The Frontier Café, Hwy 93 in Stevensville. Guest speaker will be State Representative Theresa Manzella talking about the Republican National Convention. The North Valley Pachyderm Club is an educational arm of the Republican Party. All are welcome.
First Friday at NV Library
The North Valley Public Library presents Sunrise, a bluegrass musical group, on First Friday, September 2 at 6 p.m., featuring performers from Stevensville on banjo, bass and guitar. Yellowjacket swarm
A fundraiser is being conducted by the Stevensville Yellowjacket volleyball team. A swarm of Yellowjackets will be gathering on property in and around Stevensville. In order to avoid a permanent hive on your property, a donation will insure the safe removal of the swarm by the ‘Jacket Keepers to a new location. Senior center bingo
The Hamilton Senior Center, 820 N. 4th, will hold a special Saturday Bingo on September 3. Doors open at 12 noon, games start at 1 p.m. Paper cards will be used. Free refreshments will be served. Players must be at least 18. Call Cathy at 375-9276 for more information.
Nonviolent Communication Discussion Group
Learn to communicate in a non-violent way. Peace and violence start within each individual and is expressed by the way we communicate with one another. This discussion group is based on the book “Nonviolent Communication—A Language of Life” by Marshall Rosenberg. Come and learn Marshall’s simple technique to communicate and build healthy, strong relationships in a non-violent, peaceful, and respectful way. Purchase the book from your favorite book source and attend on Monday, September 5 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. (on-going on the first and third Mondays of the month) at The Center for Spiritual Living, 1720 N. 1st Street, Hamilton (north of Sears). Library reading program
Captain Hooked on Books @ the Library will start up on Tuesday, September 6 and run every Tuesday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Captain Hooked on Books @ the Library is an interactive program of reading, singing and dancing for children ages 3-5 featuring the Captain (played by Kim Gibbs) and Petey the Parrot. This program reinforces early literacy skills in a fun, creative style that always keeps kids entertained. Come and read at the library with a pirate! This program is a unique performance of only 30 minutes. Caregivers are required to quietly supervise any children under their care so that the performance is not interrupted. Fly Fishers of the Bitterroot
Fly Fishers of the Bitterroot will meet Tuesday, September 6 at BJ’s Restaurant in Hamilton. Social hour is from 6 to 7 p.m. with cocktails/dinner optional. “Effective Techniques for Fishing Local Waters” will be presented by Chuck Stranahan, owner of Chuck Stranhan’s Fly Fishing Shop in Hamilton. He is the designer of the Brindle Chute Variant and other fly patterns. Chuck is an IFFF Certified Casting Instructor and is a well known fishing guru. The Stevensville Garden Club meets every first Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Stevensville. There will be no meeting at the church Wednesday, September 7th. Spiritual Masters Video Series
Join in viewing and discussion of a talk, “Working With the Light” by Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee, a Sufi teacher, on Wednesday, September 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living, 1720 N. 1st Street (north of Sears). Llewellyn helps us understand that through spiritual practice and inner work we can access the divine light within us and how we can then use this light in service to the whole. Women’s Newcomers’ Club
Are you new to the Bitterroot Valley? Have you been here for awhile and would just like to meet new people? If so, the Bitterroot Women’s Newcomers Club welcomes you to the next meeting, Thursday, September 8, 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the First Christian Church, 328 Fairgrounds Road in Hamilton. After a short business meeting there will be a discussion of the valley’s diverse and multiple specialty clubs. If you have an interest in crafts, cards, sewing, clay shooting, bunco, hiking, etc, Bitterroot Women Newcomers has the means to provide this for you. Fellowship Club
The Bitterroot Public Library’s Fellowship Club will be meeting on Thursday, September 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to discuss the book “Peace in the Present Moment” by Eckhart Tolle and Byron Katie.
