Florence – Boyd Wayne Durfee, 84, of Florence, MT and Mount Pleasant, MI, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 at his daughter’s, Kathy’s Place Assisted Living in Florence surrounded by three generations of family.
He was born July 9, 1932 in Mount Pleasant to Albert and Derethia Durfee. Boyd was raised and lived most of his life in Mount Pleasant. He married the love of his life, Carolyn R. Beverlin and they had six wonderful children, Joe, Neil, Kathy, Terri, Jan and Tim.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter and spent his last few decades fishing around Montana with his son-in-law, Don, and grandsons, Robert, Dan and Joe, whom will all very much miss their fishing buddy that was full of jokes. No matter what it took, Boyd was always the life of the party and ready to make people smile and laugh with his charm and humor that was one of a kind. He enjoyed all family get togethers, bluegrass music concerts and regularly attended Missoula’s Wheat Montana Bluegrass sessions. Boyd never lost his love for women, dancing, food, fishing and hobbies. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Don) Porter of Florence, MT; a son, Tim (Becky) Durfee of Mount Pleasant, MI; a daughter, Jan (Bill) Stanhope, a daughter, Terri Langdon, and a son, Joe Durfee, all of Owosso, MI; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A very sincere thanks to all the staff at Kathy’s Place for their tender, loving care and treating him as their own grandpa or “Papa”, as he was called. Also the great care from all of his doctors and Paul at Florence Pharmacy.
A celebration of his life will be held at Kathy’s Place annual Luau Pig Roast. Please join us for food, dance, fun and lots of stories in honor of the party animal he was, on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 3 p.m., 328 Fescue Slope in Florence. In lieu of flowers, please come with stories, pictures and a side dish. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
