Missoula – Iris Holland, 84, passed away on March 7, 2016 at Riverside Health Care Center of natural causes.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44-1/2 years, Homer Holland and eight of 10 siblings.
Surviving are the children of her first marriage, Larry (Vivian) Peterson, Terry Peterson, Melvin (Lois) Peterson and Dale (Leslie) Peterson, the children of Homer’s first marriage, Bonnie Holland, Gene (Sandy) Holland and Bill (Lori) Holland, Homer and Iris’s children, Jim (Connie) Holland and Dona (Randy) Johnson. Together they have 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and Iris’ “redheaded step-child” Tina.
She was Citizen of the Year in Stevensville. She has Presidential awards for volunteerism from the last two presidents. She said, “As a volunteer, it was a real joy to give to the people who helped me through some hard patches in my life, maybe not the same people, but still giving.”
Services were held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville. The family suggests that memorial donations may be made in Iris’ name to the Clothes Closet/Food Pantry in Stevensville or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
