The Bitterroot Boltz, a traveling baseball team made up of 13 year olds from throughout the Bitterroot made a big splash in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, this last week. The team cruised through pool play last Wednesday and Thursday and came away with the No. 1 seed for the championship bracket for the Triple Crown World Series for 13 year olds and under.
The Boltz defeated Broomfield, Colorado’s RMHC5 team first, winning 13-5. They then ran over Parker, Colorado, 23-0. That set up the championship bracket for the Bitterroot team. In their first game of the bracket, the Boltz topped Salem, Utah’s Diamond Dawgs, 7-6. The Boltz then 10-runned Centennial Colorado, 14-4. They moved on to top Brawley, California, 9-0. The Dirt Dogs of Selah, Washington met up with the Bitterroot team in the semi finals. The Boltz edged out another 7-6 win and sent the Dirt Dawgs to the loser’s bracket. They came back through to play in the championship game where the Boltz ran over them, 18-8.
