It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Robert Leroy “Bob” Curry, 81, of Hamilton on September 21st, 2026. He was born November 18, 1944 in Hamilton.
The son of Robert L. Curry and Norene (Vance) Curry, Bob never met his father as he went to serve his country in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II and never returned home. Due to this, Bob and his brother Norbert were raised by their mother Norene and grandmother Gertrude Vance. Bob was raised in Grantsdale and graduated from Hamilton High in 1964.
In his early years Bob enjoyed summers in Ovando with cousins guiding in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, he continued this after high school for summers and in the fall as a hunting guide.
Bob enlisted in the Montana Army National Guard and served for six years until his honorable discharge.

On October 7, 1967, he married Betty Jean Hannon, and they made their home in Hamilton.
Bob’s career was with the U.S. Forest Service where he was a caterpillar / bulldozer operator all over the Bitterroot National Forest for many years until he was injured on the job. Then he pursued other jobs in the forest service until he was recognized for 35 years of service in the government of the United States.
In February of 1972 there was an addition to their family, a daughter Heather Marie Curry. As a family they shared many adventures together, from many trips like Disneyland, camping, boating/waterskiing, fishing, hunting and building of their family log home in Hamilton. Over the years the family had many animals but the one Bob missed the most was Chica, his Chihuahua.
Bob was preceded in death by his father Robert L Curry; his grandmother, Gertrude Vance; mother, Norene Curry; brother, Norbert and various uncles, aunts, and cousins.
