The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is now shuttered. Approved by Congress in 2011 in response to the 2007-08 financial crisis, the worst since the Great Depression, the Bureau offered protection from unfair lending and financial fraud. Americans could file a complaint which the Bureau investigated. All activities have ceased and the agency defunded. The Bureau since its inception has been successful in returning $17.5 billion in compensation to Americans. Ask yourself, how can this Bureau be closed without Congressional approval?
