Legal advice sought by Michalson

May 29, 2024 by Guest Post

by Susan Devlin, Stevensville

This is in regards to the article in this week’s Bitterroot Star regarding the political practice complaints filed against Michalson. In his answer, he says that, I’m paraphrasing, he sought legal advice. I have left a message with the town clerk and the mayor asking who paid for this legal advice that he sought regarding his illegal actions. I have not heard back… which is not unusual.

I do not believe that taxpayers’ money should have paid for his seeking legal advice for his breaking the law, if in fact it was. I do remember that Michalson fought long and hard against Mayor Dewey for using taxpayers’ money for paying for legal advice regarding his inappropriate use of taxpayer money.

I am requesting an accounting of who paid for Michalson’s legal advice. If we taxpayers did, he needs to repay that immediately. If he paid for it on his own, I would like proof.

Sue Devlin/Allan is at it again. Her animosity towards Mr. Michalson is rearing its ugly head once again.
It’s simple, just ask. You don’t need to rant via a newspaper. Makes you look like a coward.
Here’s what you do: trot yourself down to town hall and ask Bob. Although paranoia suits you, simply inquire.
I do not know, but a legal opinion might have been forthcoming in the course of a normal conversation and no charges ensued. Don’t know BUT FOR PETE’S SAKE JUST ASK, rather than foment conspiracy theories.

Leanna, you stated “just ask”. Perhaps you overlooked where Susan stated “I have left a message with the town clerk and the mayor asking who paid for this legal advice…”?

After all, we are supposed to have an open government with access to info via The Freedom of Information Act”, and the Mayor didn’t do anything wrong, he has nothing to hide, right?
