Marilyn Kay (Jones) Dodd, born October 27, 1941, was born in Burlington, Kansas to Florence and Eldon Jones. Marilyn was the youngest of three, Ronald Jones and Vernalee Davis completed the trio. Marilyn grew up on a farm near Goodland, Kansas, where she undoubtedly learned her work ethic and love of all things that grew. She grew up in a time when indoor plumbing and refrigeration is what the “town folk” had. She and her siblings rode a retired race horse named Sylvia to and from school, and they had a radio but no TV.
Marilyn had many loves, her family was always number one. Elvis was number two, and the third was her torrid love of golf where she was able to flex her Woman’s Rights muscles and make a lasting impact to her local golf course and serving in various positions on the Board, and the Woman’s Association.
Marilyn married Michael in Golden, Colorado on August 20, 1970. Marilyn and Michael had two sons, Sean Thomas Dodd (Jacksonville FL) and Shane Michel Dodd (Darby MT). Marilyn truly earned the title of World’s Best Mother and Wife by being the shepherd of these three. Marilyn had a nearly 50-year career as a hairdresser, and entrepreneur. Her wittiness and love were with her wherever she went. A true friend to many, an amazing mother, and an endearing wife of over 50 years.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her son Christopher, mother Florence, father Eldon, and brother Ronald.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Michael of Hamilton MT, son Sean Dodd of Jacksonville FL along with his wife Kerry and daughters Emma and Jessie, son Shane of Darby MT, sister Vernalee Davis of Englewood CO, nephew Bruce Davis of Englewood CO, nephew David Davis of Las Vegas, and niece Kimberly Davis of Arvada CO.
At Marilyn’s request there will be no graveside services or memorial service. She did request a party so join Mike, Shane, Sean and Family, in celebration of life on June 1st and tip a Margarita or Old Fashioned back and tell a fun Marilyn story or play a song. Location to be announced. Brothers Mortuary & Crematory is honored to care for Marilyn Kay (Jones) Dodd. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.brothersmortuary.com.
