I’ll begin with a warning. This is an opinion page. I’m an old veteran and have no intent to be politically correct. Many of us have been silent for far too long.
It seems the stage is being set to restrain Israel from cleaning house in Gaza. Our useless State Department is placating the screaming crowds. Crowds shouting “From the river to the sea” and other chants which disclose their ignorance of history and hatred of all things Jewish. In their conduct they also disclose their lack of understanding of our Constitution and laws. Actually they really show how their extreme version of Islam is impossible to co-exist with our Constitution and it’s Judeo-Christian beliefs. Let’s just say it rather than being politely silent. These folks will never be good citizens; they want, no, their faith demands, a theocracy like that in Iran.
Don’t we remember the deadly silence of our Islamic neighbors after 9-11? What did we do to stop 20 years of rocket fire into Israel from Gaza? Rockets without guidance. My God, what an act of indiscriminate warfare! We all watched the proud reception the Gaza population gave to their so-called martyrs. We were silent when the UN-sponsored schools in Gaza openly taught children to hate Jews. Yes, we were silent; but, we certainly paid for all of it!
Have you ever wondered why the so-called Arab neighbors of Gaza never let Palestinians migrate into such places as Jordan and Egypt? The answer is simple. Those countries realize that with Palestinians comes chaos. They are governed by Sunnis who don’t share the hatred of infidels which is the Shiite code. That is why we (you and I) have paid the way to thanklessly support these characters for nearly 50 years. They, the Shiites, don’t thank us, they hate us. Their faith puts them firmly in the 12th century.
As we wring our hands about dead Gazinians let us remember a few unique factors in this war that Hamas reignited. I suspect Israel is the first army in history to prepare a highway to safety for non combatants and even escort those using it. They have endured casualties as they seek out Hamas terrorists welcomed and hiding in the midst of civilians.
I suspect our Obama 2 White House will seek to place Israel under UN protection as a cost of support. The history of the UN as a protector is that of consistent worldwide failure at the cost of many lives. It is also true that the UN has always voted against Israel. Get ready for a betrayal that will put the disgraceful withdrawal from Afghanistan as a minor event.
I think it was our past Secretary of State Kissinger that said that to be an enemy of the United States is dangerous; but to be a friend can be fatal. Let us pray that his words are not a prophecy. I urge you to let our Congressional incumbents and candidates know how you feel.
Yes, “Never Again!” is a vow to remember!
