When asked, most Republicans claim to be Christians. Has God made Republicans or Christians better people or more Christ-like in any way? What does the Bible say?
In Matthew 25:31, the Bible says one is not a follower or disciple of Jesus Christ if one does not follow God’s written word, especially the words of Jesus. Jesus said those who feed the poor, visit those in prison or offer water to the thirsty are those sheep that followed Him and they will have eternal life. The goats challenged Jesus and claimed that they never refused Him water or food. Jesus told them that when they did not help others, they did it unto Him.
To clarify this further, in Luke 10:29, Jesus told us that helping and serving others, even those who are different or are hated, is His requirement. Remember a priest and a Levite passed by a man who was beaten and robbed, but a Samaritan helped the man.
Are Republicans helping those in need of food, water, shelter or healthcare? The fact is, this is rarely the case. Most of our charity and social help comes from Democrats. Look at the voting records of Congress and find out for yourself. Democrats vote overwhelmingly to help the homeless, the hungry and those who differ from themselves. They do not judge others as unfit for their love, mercy or grace.
Conversely, Republicans vote against helping those who are poverty stricken, sick or elderly. The MAGA Republicans especially are opposed to helping others. For example, many Republicans want to end support to Ukraine. Eighty-five percent of Ukrainians are Christians and Republicans want to let atheist Russia kill them all.
MAGA Republicans want to defund the police, FBI and the DOJ so criminals can take over the country. The extreme right also claim that Democrats are running a pedophile sex ring and all Democrats should be killed.
MAGA Republicans call other Republicans who do not follow their agenda, RINOS, Republicans in name only. In like manner, MAGA members are CINOS, Christians in name only.
MAGA cult members who claim to be Christians are lying just like their leader, Trump. Rev. 21:8 says all liars are damned, and no one lies more than Trump. According to the words of Jesus, they are not good Samaritans; they are the goats who will be thrown into the fire for eternity.
Gomez says
Alan. A classic example of a word salad response.
“The ‘word salad’ is used intentionally by the pathological narcissist to manipulate you as a form of gaslighting so that you question yourself, rather than continue questioning them. No amount of questioning or discussion with someone who uses this type of technique will ever be fruitful.”
Last chance. Specifically what did you find in the letter that was factually incorrect or misleading? Any response that does not directly address this one simple question will be ignored.
Alan says
Perhaps a few lessons in proper hermeneutics would benefit you greatly.
Gomez says
Which of their comments do you feel are factually incorrect or misleading? Please be specific, and give the corresponding Biblical passages to support your belief.. Thanks.
Alan says
The author of this post takes an obvious eisegesis hermeneutical approach that even a layman biblical student could recognize. It neither requires, nor demands any scriptural rebuttal due to its completely subjective form and lack of sincerity.
Bill Stroud says
Err, sincerity IS completely subjective.
Subjectively, I believe a majority of Americans would agree with this LTE.
Gomez says
Alan. You insinuated that the letter writer had misquoted or misinterpreted the Bible, yet, when pressed, you are unable to provide even a single specific example to support your claim.
If the letter truly “…neither requires, nor demands any scriptural rebuttal due to its completely subjective form and lack of sincerity”, then why did you respond to it in the first place?
Alan says
I didn’t respond with a scriptural rebuttal, I told him to work on his hermeneutics. Completely consistent with my second response. However, you Gomez have illustrated repeatedly that you fine no credibility in scripture. Why then, do you profess to require a scriptural rebuttal?
