More guns, not less

May 2, 2023 by Guest Post

by Gene Wensel, Hamilton

I found it interesting that the woman with the hyphenated name felt uncomfortable concern about sitting across the aisle from a man wearing a legal sidearm in a local restaurant. She ended her thoughts with the questions, “Is this freedom? Is this a good thing?” Yes, it is! Montana is not a “gun free zone.” I pray it never will be. If the truth were known, that guy with the hog leg on his hip would probably be the first  to come to her rescue in the case of an immediately threatening time of need.

In truth, I would guess at least a half dozen or more customers pack unseen firearms during any given breakfast morning at local restaurants. Matter of fact, I would personally feel more comfortable if all their waitresses packed holstered sidearms. Then she asked us how she could tell if this armed customer was sane, responsible and wouldn’t start blowing away people before he finished his orange juice and she finished her unborn chicken embryo omelet. Come on…

As of March 6th, 2023, she stated there were over a hundred mass shootings in America. I can’t help but ask myself how many lives would have been saved if legally armed citizens came to the rescue of those victims before the police got there? Ask those terrorized people if they hoped responsibly armed citizens would have intervened before the police arrived. As the old saying goes, “It’s better to have a gun and not need it, than to need one and not have it.

And yet, oddly enough, loaded firearms are not allowed at either Mar-a-Lago or NRA Conventions.

It is odd indeed. As odd as democrats requiring picture ID to get past their walls and gates and into their conventions.

Speaking for myself only, I wish Americans would see past the hypocrisy of this two party silliness. No matter who’s in charge, the Swamp wins.

More guns? Your moronic theory worked well in the Texas mall yesterday. Seven innocent killed and seven wounded before shooter was taken out by a police officer. All that carnage and not one gun toting bubba pulled out a “hog leg” to take out the bad guy. And this…… in the gun fetish capital on the planet. Your twisted pretzel logic is not only disgusting but it’s killing people.

Gene – Excellent reply! My husband and I totally agree with you. Tom Jefferson said that education was necessary for the masses to have a good country. This is one person who needs to learn about guns and stop with the emotion and use common sense instead. Keep up the great replies. More gunners and conservatives must speak out when nonsense like this is posted in an op-ed.
