My husband retired from the US Navy in 2002 after serving 32 years. It was a great life. We live in Stevensville and are so lucky to be here. We attended the Veterans Day Program at Stevensville High School, and what a wonderful event. We were so proud to be a part of such a patriotic program and to see the students and faculty participate in honoring our veterans. Stevensville should be very proud of Principal Eric Larson, the faculty, and again the amazing students. Senior Dylan Valentine will make an amazing MARINE; the guest speaker, Dan Kimzey, was so motivational; the SHS Symphonic Band playing the National Anthem, and the “Armed Forces Salute” made us proud; and the Stinger Singers and Chrysolian Choir performed without a flaw.
THANK YOU to all! But mostly, when we walked in we were presented with a little card from a student and it read: “Dear Soldiers/Veteran: thank you for your service in our military. I really appreciate that you fought for our country and our freedom. Did you fight in a war? Was it World War 2? I love that you have kept our country safe so I can go outside alone and play. It’s amazing that you are the reason I can go outside and not worry about being bombed. I hope you are safe and not injured. Thank you.”
This is a true testimony to your Stevensville teachers and parents of these young students. Honoring our Veterans is now and will forever remain a very important part of our heritage, and yes, our FREEDOM.
