Why should we Montanans vote for a Convention of States (COS)? Because we need to correct the dangerous federal dysfunction, and illegal actions from it on and toward Americans – no matter whom.
If the FBI and the DOJ will take away a former President’s Constitutional rights, they will do it to you. Consider that he can fight them as he has the money to do so. Do you? Most Americans do NOT have the money to fight any type of illegal activity from the supposed law enforcement agencies who are being weaponized against Americans by the tyrants in Washington. Thus, we need a way to put these scofflaws in their Constitutional place and the way is the Convention of States. It is the only Constitutional, non-violent, LEGAL, safe, and secure, method of doing so.
Wait! What about Americans voting congresspeople out of office? Americans do NOT use this method often enough. The re-election rate among all 435 members of the House has been as high as 98 percent in modern history, and it has rarely dipped below 90 percent. (~thought.com.) The rate in the Senate is about the same.
The Convention of States will help Americans regain their lost mojo and their responsibility as sovereign rulers of the USA. Many just sit around “preaching to the choir” while tolerating the abuses of the government and their trampling of the Constitution and our rights. When the feds do something outrageous like raiding President Trump’s private home, then they demand that “something be done” but by that they mean to be done by our worthless congressmen and senators that we sent to Washington D.C.and who are part of the problem, NOT…the American people.
But it is the American people who can once again act like sovereign protectors of this county if we act now. Here’s what you do – it’s simple. Call and tell your local legislators to call for a Convention of States for Montana. Don’t take NO for an answer. Remind them that YOU put them into office and YOU can take them out of it. The process goes like this:
The Montana legislature votes to approve a call. An application is then sent to congress specifying topics that the legislature approves. They must be like the three that the other 19 states have agreed to debate: term limits for congress, a balanced budget, and reducing the power of the federal government. The state legislature then selects the commissioners to attend the convention. They give these agents of the legislature information on what they want them to debate and have them sign a pledge that they will do as the state directs. This is a signed oath and is a matter of common law. Commissioners who do NOT do their duty can be jailed and fined.
The commissioners attend, set up their rules and have three or four days to debate these topics and any resolutions to them that the states want them to discuss. The amendments are then voted on at the committee level and if passed, they come back to the main body of commissioners and are voted on once again. IF passed, the amendments are returned to the states to ratify. It takes 38 states to do so. Once done, then the constitution is ratified. Then we… yes, we… take back our country!
The Founding Fathers wanted us to act. That is why the Constitution begins with this reminder: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
John Adams a Founding Father had this to say about an Article V convention:
“…You will never know how much it cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it.” Will you use it?

A little research will show you that Adams wrote this in a letter to Abigail over 10 years before the drafting of the constitution. This has absolutely nothing to do with an Article V convention…or the Constitution.
Perhaps you should write a little less and read a lot more!

Bitterrooter – this quote is often used not only to alert Americans to the liberty that the founders fought for, gave their lives and fortunes for – its also for Article V in the Constitution and that document itself.. His and other Founders efforts to secure our unalienable rights, our Constitution and its Article V are what they achieved. I suggest YOU go read, the Original Constitution by Natelson and learn what they had to think about liberty and why they developed the Constitution and put in the Article V for US to use to defeat a runaway government like they had. Another source are any books by Forest McDnald and David Barton. They wanted to see us use what they had developed and that effort included their thinking – that is what I am quoting. Sorry – you are too narrow in your thinking about what the Founders thought.

Thank you, Bitterrooter. I think Helen conscientiously tries to go to original sources and represent them responsibly, but she decides when she’s done and her views are not open to discussion. I hope that Bitterrooters of all persuasions realize the brick wall there. I’m sorry.

Ahhh the lady who got so upset when she sent me a piece of crap writing from the John Birch Society and then became offended when I called it what it was – propaganda and lies. She wouldn’t meet with me and back out as she KNEW that I KNEW what the writer had stated were lies.
Fahnenstock Thomas is another liberal who cannot stand those who do NOT repeat her opinion out of your mouth. FT LOVES to try and control the narrative but when someone comes to tel the other side of the story, she gets offended. The brick wall is in her mind not mine.
