Edward ‘Ed’ Alden Hackett

July 20, 2022 by Editor

Stevensville – Edward “Ed” Alden Hackett passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the family ranch, surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born October 24, 1965. He was the oldest child of Harvey and Mary Hackett. He was born to be a rancher. He spent his life working the family ranch alongside his father and brother. Ed graduated Stevensville High School and attended Montana State University in Bozeman. He left  the valley to pursue interests in Reno, NV where he eventually met Rita Miller in 1992. They were married in 1993. Ed and Rita moved back to Stevensville and had their son, Jordan, in 1995. They later divorced. Ed enjoyed raising Jordan, his only son and center of his world. Ed spent time in Nevada, California and Idaho. However, his heart was always in Montana where he resided until death.

Ed had many accomplishments and interests in his life. He owned and operated his company, Ed Hackett Roofing. He was a very talented photographer. He loved the outdoors and photographed many of its wonders. He also enjoyed the occasional wedding, senior and family portraits. From the time he was a small boy, he would gather wildflowers and bring them back to his mother. One of his favorite things was going to Idaho to research various caves and pictographs. His favorite band was Eagles. Ed loved rocks, stones, antiques and politics. He also loved his community.

Ed is survived by his parents Harvey and Mary Hackett of Stevensville, MT. His son Jordan Hackett of Watford City, ND. Brother Charles Hackett (Josette). Sister Catherine Hackett. Nephews Selwyn, Teigen and Elwyn. His Aunts Molly Hackett of Victor and Margaret Cargo of Yorba Linda, CA.

Ed will be greatly missed by his many friends as well as his family. His absence in this life will forever be felt.

A Celebration of Life was held July 9, 2022 at Lone Rock School. A luncheon followed at the Three Mile Community Center.
