I have gotten to know Wayne Rusk well over the past few years and am proud to count him as a close friend. It is true that in his younger days he went through some very troubled times, passing through a crucible that would have broken a lesser man. Wayne emerged the man you see today: husband and father of a great family, a devout Christian, a successful small businessman, and a leading proponent for improving the management of Ravalli County’s forests. What’s more, through diligent study he has become as well read in the history of America’s founding and our Constitution as any college professor—a fact that anyone who has heard him speak at Republican functions cannot truthfully deny.
It is regrettable that supporters of his primary opponent have sunk to slandering this fine man. If the citizens of House District 88 are anything like the hundreds of my constituents with whom I’ve spoken over the past several weeks, they are tired of the name calling, nastiness, and disinformation that infect today’s politics. They want a principled legislator who will do the hard work necessary to understand all sides of an issue before going on to craft a workable solution. They want a legislator who will always put the Constitution and their interests ahead of scoring well on a scorecard that is designed to enforce dog-like loyalty to a political party.
Voters of House District 88 have an opportunity to send a genuine statesman to Helena as their representative. And they have an opportunity to start the process of restoring decency to politics in Ravalli County. A vote for conservative candidate Wayne Rusk will accomplish both. I without reservation endorse his candidacy.
Helen Sabin says
He can speak as well as any college professor? Dave….that is NOT a compliment to Wayne. Don’t diminish, denigrate or deny the amount of study Wayne has done… and it is prodigious…, by comparing him to this profession, please, as it brings to mind Elizabeth Warren and Angela Davis for example. Now if you had said, Neurosurgeon, that is more like it. But okay, we get your point. What you said below that point is correct.
He would do a great job as HD88 representative as I know him too and like him. What is important is that Wayne has learned from history what makes a good representative and a vote for him would be a vote in the right direction. Now if he doesn’t perform, HD88 voters can always remove him at the next election. That is what history teaches us doesn’t it? And I know that Wayne takes that to heart too – he has said it many times. HE states he will work hard to represent OUR voices and that is what we want in a representative.
