It’s quite amazing the lies that are spewed during election campaigns. What baffles me, a person stoops to such a low level to make their opponent look bad. It doesn’t surprise me at this stage of the game that as a candidate belittles their opponent in the same breath they proclaim they’re a Christian. What? Do they know the Bible? Do they really have a relationship with Jesus? Their words and actions don’t coincide.
I just read the write up about Wayne Rusk, Alan Lackey’s opponent, in the Bitterroot Star. Alan’s opponent claims he is a Constitutional conservative yet he doesn’t understand the Constitution. He doesn’t understand Amendment 10 of the Bill of Rights, he’s pushing for convention of states, and he claims Alan Lackey is a single issue opponent.
I’d like to clear things up a bit. Alan Lackey is also a candidate for HD88. So of course his opponent is claiming Alan is a one issue guy. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Alan Lackey is definitely not a one issue person. If you have an opportunity to hear Alan speak or talk to him, you’ll realize he’s intelligent and well rounded. And it becomes clear why his opponent would lie about him. Alan Lackey is a staunch supporter of: states’ rights, the U.S. Constitution, the Montana Constitution, election integrity, lower taxes, control of education at local levels, pro-life, nullification and against Convention of States.
This is an extensive list of current issues we all deal with on a regular basis and is a far cry from a single issue.
Remember, liars lie. That’s what they do. So rest assured if they lie on the campaign trail, they’ll lie if they are elected.
Let me explain about amendment 10, or nullification, nullification, nullification as Alan’s opponent called it. He also refers to it as unconstitutional. Amendment 10 reads: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
In other words, if the federal government passes a federal law that oversteps its bounds, it is up to the states, and the people’s right, to nullify that law. You see, the federal government falls below the states in the hierarchy of power. The states formed the federal government, not the other way around. Amendment 10 draws a box around the federal government that they are supposed to stay in and gives the real power to the states and to the people. I find it ironic that Alan’s opponent says he’s a Constitutional Conservative but he doesn’t even understand the Constitution. I see his statement as “eye candy” for the uneducated reader to glom on to.
When Alan Lackey says he supports the U.S. Constitution, he doesn’t cherry pick the parts that he thinks will get him votes like amendment 2. Of course, he supports the right to keep and bear arms but he also supports the whole Bill of Rights and the whole U.S. Constitution.
I wholeheartedly recommend you listen to both men. Listen to what is said as well as what is not said. You’ll hear Alan’s opponent mention key phrases like “In God we trust” or “I think religion is important” or “My father once was a Baptist preacher.” Conversely, Alan Lackey wears Jesus on his sleeve. He’ll proclaim this country was formed through Christian values. Alan is not afraid to admit Jesus is his savior. The difference between the two, Wayne thinks religion is important, Alan knows real strength and authority come directly from God Almighty and everything else follows.
