Stevensville defeats Hamilton in softball

The Hamilton softball team hosted Stevensville on Tuesday, April 19th. Both teams’ offenses were red hot, despite chilly spring conditions which forced fans and supporters to bundle up. In a game that had 31 total runs, Stevensville came away with the 17-14 victory. Hamilton led 9-5 after the 4th inning, but Stevensville scored eight runs in the fifth to take a 13-9 lead, and then they held on for the victory. Pitcher Lily Brushia got the win for Stevensville and had 4 strikeouts, while Brynne Johnson took the loss for Hamilton and had 6 strikeouts. Hamilton’s offense was led by Delilah Beck, who went 3 for 4 with 5 RBI’s and Thea Jackson, who went 2 for 4 with 4 RBI’s, while Katelyn Shepherd led Hamilton with 3 runs scored. For Stevensville’s offense, Claire Schneiter went 3 for 5 with 4 RBI’s, and Lily Brushia and Sophie Berning both went 3 for 5 with 3 RBI’s, and Camas Smith led Stevensville with 3 runs scored.

Stevensville traveled to Dillon on Saturday, April 23rd and found themselves down 2-5 going into the sixth inning. They then scored 17 runs in the top of the sixth inning. This impressive feat vaulted them to a 19-5 victory. For Stevensville’s offense, Claire Schneiter went 4 for 5 with three RBI’s, Olivia Grey went 1 for 2 with three RBI’s, and Emmy Kopsa went 2 for 4 with two RBI’s. Stevensville’s pitcher Lily Brushia got the win.
