The girls and boys track teams from Darby, Stevensville, Corvallis, and Hamilton competed in the Frenchtown Invitational on Saturday, April 2nd. In the girl’s team standings, Corvallis finished 2nd, Hamilton took 3rd, Stevensville took 8th, and Darby finished in 14th. For the boys, Hamilton took 2nd, Corvallis took 4th, Stevensville took 9th, and Darby finished in 13th.
Several area athletes won their events and had impressive early season performances. Hamilton’s Lane Cole won the 800m with a blazing time of 1:58.20. Brinson Wyche of Corvallis won the 1600m in a time of 4:35. Hamilton’s Andrew Burrows won the Shot Put with a throw of 50-02. Burrows also took second in the discus with a throw of 141-03. Colter Kirkland of Hamilton took first in the Pole Vault with a vault of 11-06. Kellen Bellar of Stevensville won the Javelin with a throw of 180 feet.
For the girls, Stevensville’s Claire Hutchison won the 100m with a time of 13.04 and the 200m with a time of 26.42. Madi Nelson of Hamilton won the 400m with a time of 1:02.59, barely beating Darby’s Hadassah Wilson who finished 2nd with a time of 1:02.62. Madison Lewis from Corvallis won the Shot Put with a throw of 39-08. Hamilton’s Mya Winkler finished 2nd in the Javelin, 2nd in the Discus, and 5th in the Shot Put.
