by Gary Milner, Corvallis
I’ve seen the images of death, suffering, and destruction in Ukraine. Hospitals, maternity wards, and cities indescribably bombed. I then read about Matt Rosendale’s vote against a House resolution to support Ukraine. Mr. Rosendale has stated that the United States has “no legal or moral obligation to come to the aid of either side in this foreign conflict.” He has also introduced a bill with Republicans to deny military assistance to Ukraine until a wall along the Mexican border is completed.
There is also our “sportsman hunter” governor Greg Gianforte. He gets a call and then goes to shoot a wolf in a trap and most recently shoots a collared Yellowstone lion out of a tree. These are the very antics that turn folks off to hunting. Sadly, there are some who actually feel good about themselves by committing such acts.
What a sad day it is that men like this now represent Montana.
Linda schmitt says
Gary,
Thank you for your cogent, timely statement. It’s neighbors like you who fortify our classic American values.
Leslie Sterling says
I would hope my fellow Montanans see the worth of clearly-demarcated and vigorously-enforced borders. I get the sense Mr. Milner is more outraged by the violation of the Ukraine’s borders than by the violation of America’s.
The number of illegal aliens who have invaded America since Biden took office exceeds the number of Russian invaders in the Ukraine by several million.
Helen Sabin says
Gary – these “men” are doing what we Montanas elected them to do. Represent us! Consider that we have nothing to do with Ukraine and we owe nothing to the Ukrainians who engaged in supporting Biden’s son with thousands of dollars they could have spent on arming themselves to fight their own battles. However my husband and I did send money to help them. Did you? These two elected politicians did not engage in “worthless virtue signaling” like the rest of the house members who should have sent them arms and planes – not our best wishes. Congratulate these elected politicians. They did what we expected. Now, did YOU send the Ukrainians money? Did you donate to the Red Cross or Samaritans Purse? Or to any of the NGOs working in that country? Instead, of criticizing them, call and write the most stupid, mentally ill President that was fraudulently put into office and tell him to release the jets and give them to the Ukranians…that is if you really want to help those people. That is what THEY want…not the house’s worthless virtue signaling.
