Rena Lanell Turner

March 8, 2022 by Editor

Stevensville – It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Rena Lanell (Wortman) Turner who passed away on February 25, 2022 in Hamilton, MT.

Lanell was born in Tucson, AZ on May 10,1943 to Rena “Dinks” and Irvin Wortman. She was the younger sister of Richard Wortman (deceased) and the entire family traveled on the rodeo circuit until moving to Stevensville in the 1950’s and Lanell graduated from high school in’ 1961, where she excelled in making lifelong friends who were true to the end. After graduation she received her teaching degree from UM Western in 1965 and a social work degree from the University of Montana in 1992. Lanell was employed as a teacher, a secretary for Dr. Ellyn Jones (Victor) and as a social worker for Community Hospital and the rest home in Stevensville. Her caring spirit and heartfelt compassion were felt by many throughout her life.

Lanell met her lifelong partner, W. Derk Turner (deceased), in Stevensville and they were married on June 11,1966. Their firstborn son, Todd R. Turner, was born on August 3,1967 and their beloved daughter, Tana Turner (deceased June 20, 1987), was born on December 26,1969.

Lanell’s love of life included many pampered pets, loyal friends and shopping.

Lanell is survived by her son, Todd R. Turner, niece, Wendie (Wortman) Bauer, nephew, Brad Wortman, of Stevensville and niece, Shellie Wortman.

Thank you to Hospice for care given to our loved one. Memorial will be held at a later time to be announced, for family and close friends only. Any donations may be made to the Humane Society or Make-A-Wish Foundation. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
