Going into the championship match this Saturday, the Beaverhead (Dillon) squad was ranked right above the Corvallis Blue Devils, according to Maxpreps. Unfortunately for Dillon, that close ranking was not apparent this weekend. The match was decided in three with a 10-point margin of victory in the third game.
The second match was the stuff of postseason legends, with the Blue Devils narrowly outpacing Beaverhead, 26-24.
After this close victory the Corvallis gym was electric with the tide clearly shifting to the Blue Devils. With all the momentum going into the third game, the Blue Devils made sure not to cut it as close, winning 25-15 with a point from senior Madison Lewis to seal their victory. Her booming presence at the net was surely a major factor in the Blue Devil win.
Corvallis will advance into the next phase of postseason play at the Divisional tournament in Ronan this coming weekend. Their opponent was still undermined as of press time.
Stevensville took 3rd at the tournment, defeating Hamilton, and will also advance to Divisionals, playing Ronan on Thursday at 2 p.m. Fourth place Hamilton will play Polson at 12 noon.
