On behalf of those who serve, have served, or who have run for a political office, you merit a sincere apology for the hate-filled, spiteful letter to the Editor by Jim and Leslie Tadvick in last week’s Star.
Whether or not you’ve been elected, public service is often a thankless job involving long hours serving in your elected capacity, meeting with your constituents or campaigning. Your belief in the value of bettering your community through service has to be rock solid to withstand all the mudslinging that comes with the job.
The Tadvicks sank to new lows with the letter. Since when does homeownership and paying property taxes in multiple cities qualify a person to run for an elected office?
The adage goes, it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
