Mr. Sperry, and all other Veterans:
I am a combat veteran, helicopter pilot in Vietnam. I took fire, lost friends and saw fellow veterans killed fighting for our country. I put my life on the line every day I flew.
I take exception to your letter! You mentioned the far left. But you forgot to mention the far right. Yes, you know the ones that recently tried to overthrow our country by casting doubt on our fair and free elections. The ones that forced their way into our capitol. Yes, the ones that beat police officers with American flags that have thin blue lines. (Most of us still support our police officers.) Yes, the ones that pass tax laws that allow wealthy to reduce or outright avoid paying their fair share of taxes. Yes, the ones now that think preventing and stopping this pandemic is a violation of their liberties.
Why do these same people obey traffic laws and other laws that are passed for public safety?
I just don’t get it. That’s all it is, trying to keep people safe and healthy.
I don’t understand why you insist the far left is the majority of the Democratic Party, it is not, most could probably get along with Republicans if we could stop the hate and get together on the policies we agree on. Yes, I, and most Democrats, feel the same.
Sorry but you are so very wrong, Democrats do not want to destroy the country. Really? We are not commies nor do we want a communist country. Please quit spouting such BS.
Your fears on global threats I understand, they are real. We need to have a strong defense force. If you look at where we have recently spent trillions of dollars, and I don’t know how many deaths and wounded on wars we did not win. We could have spent that money on many things including a strong military. One without the waste and graft that occurs.
Please all of us, open your eyes and thoughts. Try to be a little less defensive and a little more understanding of other people’s views. We really don’t have to be this divided.
Yes, Mr. Sperry, I also encourage Veterans to speak up. But not with venom, hate and mistruth. Voice your opinions but respect your neighbors’ views as well. We are all different, that is what makes us Americans.
