Stevensville Town Council member Sydney Allen officially announced her candidacy this week for a seat on the town council in the November election.
She joins just one other candidate, Bob Michalson, for a seat representing Ward 2. Michalson is a former councilmember who has resigned from his position on the Council two different times since 2018.
Allen says she is running for Town Council because many residents feel their voices are not being heard, and she is ready to listen. She is in support of working with the current administration to build solutions to the problems that she hears from the community.
“I believe in open and honest government,” Allen said. “I know we can never keep everyone happy on every issue, but I believe we can find common ground and compromise. I want you to have a representative who listens to your concerns, and works to find the best solution for our community as a whole.”
Allen was appointed to the Town Council in June. She also serves as president of the Town’s Park Board and volunteers with the Stevensville Civic Club. She is a graduate of the University of Montana and a third-grade teacher.

Jim Crews says
She and Michalson are not the only ones running in Ward II. They are both running for a two year term, unfulfilled, by the vacancy of Shourd.
Cindy Brown is running in Ward 2 for the 4 year term that was vacated by Dempsey Vick.
Announcement is somewhat misleading.
By the way, what are Allen’s Credentials?
