Our country continues to suffer through one unbelievable crisis after another. There seems to be no end to the racially generated incidents. Or, that is what the radical left wants us to believe. We are supposed to agree that racism is running rampart in this country, and, to a large extent, it is caused by the police. I say BS.
Most, if not all of the incidents where a police officer has been involved in the killing of a black person, could have been avoided if the orders of the officer(s) had been followed. Solution here is to re-teach our citizens to respect the law officers instead of challenging and/or fighting them. Additionally, hundreds if not thousands of blacks killing blacks incidents have occurred over the last year. Why haven’t we heard about this.
Oh, I forget that these radicals want us to defund or do away completely with law enforcement. As I’ve expressed in the past, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Clearly, these radicals want this country to enter into complete chaos in order for them to take over. Some might remember my equating this intent with how Hitler gained power.
Before leaving this section, I want to address an incident that occurred yesterday where an officer shot a teenager who was threatening to stab another teenager with a knife. Security video clearly shows the threat unraveling with the officer having to make a split-second decision on whether to shoot or not. Today I saw individuals on different “main-stream” media programs trying to argue that this was another case of the police killing folks unnecessarily. Some claimed that this was not a serious threat requiring the officer to shoot and several argued that it was only a knife fight between teenagers which happens all the time. I just shook my head in disbelief at the ignorance I was witnessing.
Today I had a friend send me a text message expressing his opinion on what is to blame for at least some of this ignorant behavior. I want to share some of his thoughts. He believes that the elimination of the military draft in the 1970s has impacted this area. Specifically, being forced to go into the military was the best thing that happened to a lot of our citizens in the past. Basic training has an unbelievable effect on most trainees. Wimpy, whiny, spoiled kids are transformed into respectful, motivated, and patriotic adults. Part of this newly acquired knowledge/behavior is an understanding that you owe your country because of the sacrifices of previous generations, and that your country doesn’t owe you anything without you working for it. For the readers with some history knowledge, you will remember one of our Presidents challenging us – “Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country.”
President Kennedy was a member of that “Greatest Generation” whom had just saved the world. The vast majority of our population had participated in that great world war in one form or another. Millions had served in the military services, millions had served in the war effort industry and everyone had suffered through the rationing of goods. Patriotism was extremely high after the war and our governments at all levels were staffed with veterans who knew what a great country we lived in. Compare that to our current situation – very few members of our governments are veterans, the vast majority of our citizens have never been out of their place of residency so have no way to compare our country with other countries, and we continue to issue more and more welfare. Thus, you can see why so many grow up thinking that they are “entitled” to more and more free stuff.
If you are seriously paying attention to what’s happening in this country right now, you will note that there is an on-going attempt, in my opinion, to politicize the military. The all volunteer military members are being forced to attend classes where they are forced to buy into this systemic racism BS and to affirm that they will not take part in any racial activities. Total BS in my opinion as the military was the first component of our society to become racially integrated with great success.
Another worry of mine is that we lose sight of the importance of our military to where recruitment becomes impossible to keep up with the need. One of the reasons given by many historians as to why the Roman Empire collapsed was such a scenario where the military lost it’s importance and were reluctant to fight. We can’t afford to let that happen.
Final comment: the President announced he wants to provide more welfare money to help us rebound from the pandemic. Basically, he wants the federal government to take care of you from “cradle to grave.” I say that we don’t need any more welfare. I want people to get back to work. There are “workers wanted” signs everywhere you look.
