Buddy Amner Nielson

April 21, 2021 by Editor

DARBY – formerly of Utah – Buddy Amner Nielson passed away peacefully on his home on April 10, 2021, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Burley, Idaho, on December 16, 1943, to Leslie and Ila Nielson. They moved to Lehi, Utah, when he was a young boy; then resided in Highland, Utah.

Bud had a passion for taxidermy. At age 12, after reading a book on the matter, he became hooked! Through self-teaching, many hours of practice and determination, he was successful at becoming one of the top 5 taxidermists in the state of Utah. He was, as he once said, “Top of the Line.”

He met his sweetheart, Renee Nielson, and they married on March 21, 1973. They both had children from previous marriages: Travis Nielson, Justin Nielson, Brent Hippach, and Sol Colledge. Together they added 3 more, Jesse Heather and Dustin. He was successful at raising his family through his taxidermy business.

He loved hunting, fishing, and all or anything to do with the outdoors. He loved playing the guitar and played in a band with his good friends, Connie and Butch Grace. He built our home in Lehi, where he resided until 2001. He then moved to his dream place, Darby, Montana. The beautiful mountain range with access to wildlife right out his back door was a dream come true for him.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Ila Nielson; sons: Brett Hippach, Jesse Nielson, and Justin Nielson; daughter in law, Jeanna Colledge; and grandson, Stetson Nielson.

He is survived by his wife, Renee Nielson; sons: Travis (Misty) Nielson, Sol (Sherrie) Colledge, Dustin Nielson; daughter, Heather (Brad) Durrant, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the Darby Ward, 107 Tin Cup Rd., Darby, MT. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help Renee with expenses https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=282923176792832&id=100052254548081&sfnsn=mo
