We have all been “hosed” at some time in our life and how we react to it, dictates what we learn from it. What I will call, “to plausibly deny a hosing,” is the most damaging reaction to our growth as a free, independent thinking people.
Fresh out of high school, I moved to Las Vegas in 1969 and bought a ring from a man on the street for five dollars, yeah, I know. I took it to a jeweler who appraised it at five dollars a dozen, enough said. My reaction was to be hard on myself for being duped by the man’s sad story and to never trust anyone again, a childish reaction to be sure. Still, no one likes getting hosed and we tend to deny our gullibility with faulty logic to protect our egos… Danger Will Robinson.
We have our allies in this faulty logic which reinforces the plausibility odds so we may still function in society but must limit our exposure to only those who share our view; we call them political parties, fraternities, corporations, even families. We now place science and religion within reach of this faulty logic… not going there, though.
We have gone through some rough times as Americans and 2020 may be fatal to the Republic unless we acknowledge the hosing about to befall us. There are bad folks looking to change how we see ourselves and react badly to their poor view of our behavior as Americans; I for one am tired of being classified as unworthy of a place in the world, other than, deplorable.
The lifestyle of our “Public Servants” is beyond the reach of most Americans yet we deny any misbehavior by these servants of the people, how did they get so rich, at least Trump made his money before holding office… you can argue how with someone else. The point being, why do we continue “to plausibly deny a hosing” from these halfwits? Just asking.
